Meeting today's ever
changing and more demanding facility operating
requirements is creating some real challenges,
especially in a time when waning revenues are resulting
in tighter budgets.
Mandated reporting, improved preventative maintenance,
tighter schedules, higher quality standards for product
and service along with reductions in overall operating
expenses are just a few of these challenges.
AGM provides the products for accessing data and
information required by the user who needs to make
informed and timely decisions to get the job done. From
the field sensor, all the way to the boardroom.
How are AGM's
Products?
Where are AGM's Products used?
People who are not
familiar with AGM ask, "what does AGM do and what
are AGM's products used for?"
AGM's
Application and Technical Support Group provide
assistance in the selection from a large array of
products that will -
"interface"
personnel with plant and field equipment
provide
"connectivity" to 3rd
party and legacy equipment
provide low
cost solutions to all those "unique"
system design requirements
The
following is a list of typical places where AGM products
are used -
Water
and Waste Water Treatment Plants
Sewage
Lift Stations
Potable
Water Distribution Systems
Electrical Power Generating, Transmission and
Distribution Facilities
Mining
and Excavation Operations
Petroleum/Natural Gas Gathering, Transmission and
Distribution Facilities
Pulp and
Paper Manufacturing Facilities
Water
Sprinkler and Irrigation Systems

A
few examples of how AGM products are applied -
Example 1, Signal Conditioning with Isolation
As we all
know, variable speed motor drives (VFDs)
inherently generates spurious electromagnetic
interference (EMI) that can disrupt surrounding
instrumentation such as a Programmable Logic
Controller (PLC) which may be supplying a 4/20
mADC signal that is used by the VFD to control
the motor speed.
For
this application AGM would propose a product be
placed between the PLC and VFD that will
optically isolate the PLC from VFD thus
preventing the VFD generated EMI from disrupting
the PLC.
Example 2, Automatic Tank Level Control
Let's say that you have a water storage tank
that is filled by turning on a pump that pumps
water from a ground water reservoir into the
tank and you would like the pump to be operated
automatically so that the water level is
maintained within a desired range.
In
this case, AGM would suggest a product that will
monitor the storage tank level from a level
sensor and if that level drops to a settable
turn-on point then it will turn on the pump on
and if the level rises to settable turn-off
point then it will turn the pump off.

3rd Party Equipment Interface Support
As leased dedicated phone lines are
becoming more difficult to acquire, AGM customers are switching to
wireless data communications using AGM's Data Handlers (DH) and Spread
Spectrum Radios (SSR).
The Data Handler, when combined with your existing
pager system, provides a convenient, low cost way to detect and
broadcast remote site alarms such as a pump failure or unauthorized
intrusion.
