The GENERAL PURPOSE MODEM provides multi-port / multi-protocol communications interface and auto-dialer functions.

It allows different Control and Monitoring schemes to be integrated into a single system without interface problems. This avoids unexpected software expenses and extends the useful life of existing equipment.

The GENERAL PURPOSE MODEM also incorporates the telephone network for providing Control and Monitoring over a large area. Telephone touch-key tones are used to transmit instructions to a remote instrumentation site; the telephone then provides "speech verification of operational compliance" from the remote site.

Additionally, Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA), Monitoring, and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) functions can be performed.

Mult-Port Options: Different Control and Monitoring Themes can be integrated into a single system without interface problems. This avoids expensive software and extends the useful life of existing systems.

E-mail: The GPM is a gateway to apply commercial communications networks for multiple on-line computer addresses. Data from a remote site in a given system can be simultaneously shared among many members of an organization.

Radio Interface: Some Radios, to operate correctly, require RTS and CTS lines to be controlled. Adjustable delays are included.

Multiple Protocols: To extend the life of an existing system, it may be necessary to mix several different protocols. Because of the multiprocessor/object oriented programming approach, the GPM is easily configured to accommodate a large variety of requirements.

Auto-Dialer Functions: The existing telephone automatically becomes a part of the overall system. Maintenance and operating personnel now have a tool that allow them to be anywhere, anytime and still be in control. Not only can the GPM call out on abnormal conditions, but it can be interrogated from any touch-tone telephone for current system conditions.

Diagnostics Tool: Technical support is available directly from Tucson using a dial-up connection. The AGM Domain engineering staff is able to provide immediate support for diagnosing and resolving systemic problems.

As leased dedicated phone lines are becoming more difficult to acquire, AGM customers are switching to wireless data communications using AGM's Data Handlers (DH) and Spread Spectrum Radios (SSR).

The Data Handler, when combined with your existing  pager system, provides a convenient, low cost way to detect and broadcast remote site alarms such as a pump failure or unauthorized intrusion.
